Hands-on review of the Samsung Q90R flagship TV.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N4MSMJ7/...

The Samsung Q90R is an excellent 4k LED TV with impressive picture quality. In this review, we compare it to 4 other popular models.

Full review: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sam...
It has a high native contrast ratio, great local dimming support, and excellent black uniformity that allow it to deliver deep blacks in a dark room.

The TV can get very bright both in SDR and HDR and has a wide color gamut that allows it to deliver HDR content full of vivid colors and highlights that pop. Although the TV has a VA panel, the viewing angles are decent thanks to the 'Ultra Viewing Angle' technology. Motion handling is excellent and the image is crisp thanks to the very fast response time. The Q90R supports FreeSync for tear-free gaming and has a very low input lag that makes it very responsive.

Model tested: 65” (QN65Q90R)
Should also be valid for the 75” (QN75Q90R) and 82” (QN82Q90R)

Whisper Status 74 1 week ago (edited) Great job as always guys!!👍It really is a shame that the focus is on reflection and viewing angle? Not as wide a color gamut than the q9fn?

Raios Rogue 1 week ago I have a 65 inch Q90R at home be careful when installing these TV's the one connect cable can easily be pinched and break and your TV will not start hire someone that understands how to install the TV. The guy i hired i though he understands but in my country because this is a new TV i don't think anyone has installed a TV like that before so tomorrow i have to pay 100$ for a new one connect cable but for the 20 minutes i had the TV running i haven't seen any uniformity issues or any DSE i saw a picture with gray color no dirty screen effect at all

  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago It's very much is. We have it in our magnolia and and the film over the q90 and q900 really puts a grayish overlay over the TV that washes out the color a bit. And puts a purple hue on your blacks.
  • Tom Delnevo
Tom Delnevo 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Do you have the Q70? That one doesn't have the filter and should look much better, correct?
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @Tom Delnevo we do but its using same processor and full array has far less zones with no Dolby vision or any other software to enhance the black levels. It's not kept in most of magnolia due to not being that good for the price. Better off with the sm9000 and or the 900f. I dont think I post pictures of them here.
  • Tom Delnevo
Tom Delnevo 1 week ago (edited) @Michael GarciaAre you referring to the new Q70R or the Q7FN? RTings.com gave the new Q70 a great review with great contrast and excellent black uniformity and pretty good local dimming.
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @Tom Delnevo q70. I'm very aware of what rtings says. But they are unreliable source of info and domt translate well into reality.
  • Tom Delnevo
Tom Delnevo 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Who would you recommend as a reliable source of info?
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @Tom Delnevo at the end of the day you got to compare for your self. Rtings and CNET suffer heavily from hypocritical comparisons and how they rate thing. And the end of the day what looks good to you looks good to you and no one should should tell you your opinion is wrong. But I find most trust worthy people are the people who get nothing out of it. Someone who dosent get make any time of money from companies in any way. Buys their own products or has access with out direct handout. For example our magnolia makes no commission on selling stuff. But if you go to a magnoila disgn center where they make commission, they'll hype up the bigger price tag. I would say find 3 specific people, 3 people that do reviews, calibrates, test TVs. Get use to what they look for and watch or read what they say. Someone might love black level but someone else might find motion more important. So what that in mind you will know those reviewers by heart. And you can take away from that and form your own opinion of the specs and of the tv.
  • Marcel Mayer
Marcel Mayer 1 week ago lol contrast is worse than the q9fn
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago Welcome to Samsung where they make hype and not good products...
  • mohsin ashfaq
mohsin ashfaq 1 week ago And yet the pro who have reviewed this would still take this over the Q9FN. As they prefer the average picture level and shadow detail compared to the Q9FN
  • STEVEN SEAGAL
STEVEN SEAGAL 1 week ago (edited) That doesn't mean anything honestly. The tv can atill look very black.. my Q900R is 7000 contrast ratio and it is fucking insane in a dark room. Overall the Q90R beats the Q9FN and my Q900R destroys both
  • Barry Hemmy
Barry Hemmy 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Michael, would you say that the latest Sony X9500G is as good as the new Samsung QLED's?
  • sercan6793

  • Jon Snow
Jon Snow 1 week ago STEVEN SEAGAL No it doesn’t. I looked at the Q9FN and Q900R side-by-side fo ages before buying the Q9FN. The picture quality and vibrancy were just clearly better.
  • STEVEN SEAGAL
STEVEN SEAGAL 1 week ago @Jon Snow The Q9FN is amazing i agree.. but the Q900R is better
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia The Q90r black levels are better than Sony's Z9f and 950g!!😉😉😉
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @STEVEN SEAGAL if your saying you bought a q900 I either feel extremely sorry for you or your a lying fanboy who just wants to look like they know what they talking about.
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! never said they weren't we have all 3 in our magnoila and z9f was a terrible idea and pointless tv. Now if you ask me which one I would rather have? 950g by a long shot and the extra money to a good audio
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @Barry Hemmy Far better. Where Samsung is now using black frame insertion. Sony has been doing it far longer and separate the image for somether experience. So where Oleds have the best clarity 2nd best will be any Sony TV with the X1 ultimate, then the X1 extreme processor both only found in sonys mid to high range TVs. 950g has less zones of lighting but has more accurate color "WHICH TO ME" is far more important, while still achieving high black level. And then calibrated forget about it. Then we talk about HDR. DOLBY VISION being the number one format where as we go through the content the color is adjusted where HDR 10 does not. Being more accurate that's why it's more popular and the way most content is used. Then IMAX enhanced + plus android OS + plus one of if not the best smart features. (I do like thinq better but I'm weird) And it's a given. Generally in our home theater/magnolia it goes tcl 6 series for affordable. Sony 900f for mid-range Sony 950g for high led. Sony or lg Oled for flagship In a magnoila you can compared untweek tvs.
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia LMFAO 🤣🤣😂😂I won't have either!! Sony use to king back in the 80s!! How have the mighty has fallen!! Samsung is overpriced!
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @STEVEN SEAGAL q900 is a fucking scam. Lol stop saying it's so good. Its 8k and its hyped. Where it improves resolution and is better on detail (duh its 8k next year every company will have one) But colors are less. Black levels are less Still no Dolby vision Motion is nothing to Sony That film literally distorts color and the black lvl. And say that TV have deeper black lvls and I swear to god. That film make blacks purple.
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! they have Better black lvls on paper because they dont support good enhancements. Like dobly vision and more accurate color. Color becomes invalid if the green become neon green and your blacks purple. I have all the TVs on Display seen them all. I do like the q90 more than the q900. But Samsung literally had the same lineup as last year and they were even better last year. And the shit I know about Samsung who make you never buy a Samsung TV in your life.
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Sony just as worse!! The z9d had some of the best blacks on a lcd. Sony decided to care about wide angle viewing and f@cked up. I hope the small 3 t.v. companies step up to the plate this year!!😥😥
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! yes the z9f was a huge disappointment and I fully agree. But I will disagree with saying Sony is just as bad. They have the best of almost everything. +no real need for as many zones of lighting any more with features like light tweaks, calibration, and or features like Dolby vision. That fulfill that deeper black level experience Plus better color handling and noice reduction due to the x1 ultimate.
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! I think hisense will and tcl will go surpass vizio since they dont seem to really be doing anything different. The p quantum didnt come on display to any bestbuy being that it could ez compete against qleds and then was discontinued just as fast. And I'm well aware that it will return. But hisense has their 8k and new models will have quantum dot and so will tcl. Think tcl is following more of lg being more simple but a lot of bang for the buck. And hisense will follow more of sonys approach being a more premium for the dollar shit that basically just copying. Android system and pushing they new processor. Nothing wrong but that's my prediction after CES and Elearnings. Think within two-dice years Samsung is gonna have to back pedal only reason people buy they're TVs is cause people dont know better
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia DV isn't real! You need a 12 bit panel and 4000 nits to see its full potential! Samsung is good, it's just they're overpriced!! Sony days are long gone!
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia One thing Sony do make is great Oled!!
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! Sony makes a good processor they dont make the oled panel...same processor that's in the 950g
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! If you can give me a honest reason a q90 is.better then 950g I will quit job as someone who spends all their day selling and looking and comparing these TVs playing the same content. Why is the world would someone spend more money for a lesser tv.
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia First the blacks and contrast. Like I said I wouldn't have neither. Q90r is good, but not the best bang for ya buck! Q70r is better far as price to value!!
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia I forgot larger color gamut on the Q90r! There are many. So quit your job Sony Pony!!😉😉
  • Barry Hemmy
Barry Hemmy 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Many thanks, Michael!I am a big fan of Sony too and I agree with you on Sony's colour being the best and most realistic.I find Samsung too fluorescent.
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! already stated why the black lvls do not need to be crazy. Qleds have slightly more color but is more saturated destroying any type of immersion. Sony processors and benefits far destory samsungs.
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @Barry Hemmy np if you have a bestbuy local to you with a magnolia I would say head their and compare for your self. You'll have the q90, q900, c9 oled, a8f, a9f, 900f, 950g to compare.
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia I have seen Sony black levels and their not as dark as Qled!! Processing as nothing to do with it! Keep living in a bubble!
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Sony processing isn't that much better than Samsung!
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! no offence I don't think you know what your talking about the Sony processor are world acclaimed. They and Dolby were both awarded by DEG and CES for the most innovative processors. It was Sony processor for their mirrorless cameras that made mirrorless a claim to fame and still no one better then sonys mirrorless. If you honestly think Sony processor is anything but impressive and show stopper then you don't know enough about TVs.
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! Look man this is literally my job. Lol if you don't beleive me just go to your nearest magnoila or design center. Go see for your self. You are stubborn and not open for a conversation.
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Look man!! I have seen them at BB! THE Q90R is better, not 1k better! Go look at the stats. on Rtings. Q90r have better blacks, contrast, wider color gamut!! You can stay delusional Sony Pony!😆😆😆
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! Your entitled to your opinion. Just dont go telling people false info.
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia And you are entitled to yours! Stop telling lies. The numbers don't lie!! Go to Rting!!
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! rating. Scales their rating is misleading ways. And number dont lie that's why we calibrate tvs. Display. Manage. And hold a private conference with these compants. Get trained by the companies directly. We hire VPL and have Direct vendor support. Have to get authorized to even sell their products. So keep lying to yourself. And if you ever buy a q90 or any Samsung open up the back and take a picture of your shocked face to find out what we know about Samsung. Lol 😤🤺🤔🤫🤭
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia I see the delusion is strong in this one!!😀 Please tell me why I see blooming on the x900f and x950g. I don't see any on THE Q9fn or Q8fn?? Take those BB scare tactics somewhere else!!
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! so you think my goal is to scare people away from spending more money...lol. blooming in all full array TVs lol. Q8 and q9 have blooming with screen tearing as well.
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Sony has screen tearing and blooming!! Lol Like I said, I haven't seen blooming on The q9fn or q8fn. I have seen it on 2017 q9and q8!! Keep pushing Sony garbage, overpriced t.v.s!!😂😂🤣🤣
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Oh! I love their oleds!! I give them credit on them!😍
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @NOOKEY69 Hard!! again you entitled to you opinion. We dont have to share the same views. Your a fan of Samsung. And I'm authorized and taught about Samsung by Samsung. Your arguing an point my Samsung dudes dont even agree with.
  • NOOKEY69 Hard!!
NOOKEY69 Hard!! 1 week ago @Michael Garcia First of all, how I'm a samsung fanboy when I said they're overpriced!! You are entitled to your opinion. Throwing around BB training is funny! Most BB employees are college and high school kids. They don't know crap and aren't properly train.

Barry Hemmy 1 week ago @Michael Garcia Again Michael many thanks. What do you think of the new LG 55SM8600PTA SM86 Series 55" 4K UHD LED TV with the Alpha 7 Gen2 processor in it?
  • Michael Garcia
Michael Garcia 1 week ago @Barry Hemmy I think the sm8600 is slept on compared to its competitors: Sony 800g, Samsung ru7100 and ru8000. It's out classes them. -Magic remote with fully enhanced thinQ. (So underrated) -120hz panel at 240 motion, where the other are 60hz (ru8000is 120hz at 240 motion, not lg have a better motion upscaling cause of the processor) -nano cell for extra color. -alpha gen 2, awsome that lg decided to.give their super uhds some love, this make all the difference giving it an advanced chip same on that processed the b8 is awsome give it some real kick. For the price bracket it's in it's a no brainer for me compared to its competitors. Only problem is that LG is showing some love but not pushing their supers hard enough they are dope this year. But they still on back burner only because lg wont push them harder deciding to focus more on oled which are great (folding oled is a gimmick and will.be a disaster) But sm8000 is slept on. And so is the sm9000.

  • Raios Rogue
Raios Rogue 1 week ago (edited) @reviewfor thetube my problem is not with the one connect box but with the one connect cable that you plug at the back side of the TV the guy from the service that was installing the TV pinched the cable and ruined it so in 10 hours i will get the new cable i ordered a new cable and i pray that the TV will start because i bought a new Q90R 5 days ago and i still haven't used it because it won't turn on i get a red flashing light bellow the samsung logo of the TV the guy put the cable first and pinched it with the stand but you should do the opposite first install the stand of the TV then put the one connect cable. Fuckin idiots now i have to pay a 100$ for a new cable you think your hiring a guy that understands but he doesn't know what he is doing
